Christmas music makes a lie out of disappointment.
We cheat cancer like a con man, shaking hands
with the enemy when he's cut down with lasers.
It's too late to get a foothold on slippery
slopes too steep, too deep, and complicated,
like health, mortality or faith, and who
He is. Delusion is a grifter taking up room
and board in this slop house of a greasy spoon.
This health guru cooks fried chicken and bakes
cheesecake, promises to get a grip before he kills
us all. He’s unaware of deceptive practices.
He only wants us to be happy and we love him for it.

A wonderful piece of writing!
I love the expanded range of styles you have been writing in lately..so many excellent images here, all connected together with subtlety.
Chilling, Judy. Absolutely chilling!
Excellent images and some great word use in this!! You seem to have caught up with the prompts--and lucky for us you are posting the results. Write on!
This is powerful, angry, and satirical, and rightly so. You blew my wig off! Well done
Whew, Judy, what a poem!
"Delusion is a grifter" now that is a great line!
Great piece with really great thoughts. Thanks for sharing :)
I really love your style. I am not far from you, just over the hills in Tennessee. I am thrilled I found your blog! I am following you now! :) Hugs!

This one is deep, poetic, and mind blowing.
Cheers.
Makes me think of the saying - we're all going to die of something, so pick something that makes you happy (or something like that) - great writing!
Nice work...full of much to think about...
love the subtle details you've painted here... great piece
WOW again. Living with the cold hard facts about how temporary and fragile life is can be exhausting. Maybe we all do need a grifter - a little self delusion that we can count on tomorrow. The way you set up these ideas in such powerful precise language makes them art and not just musings. Thank you.
this health guru? who is it?
