A Day to Forget

Eleven, Eleven, Eleven
at eleven:eleven a.m.
A day I won’t repeat
in my lifetime.
Only look back on,
remember where I was.

I was beside my husband
while he slept, checking
for fever or any change,
wondering if I’d notice
something important,
something that went awry.

This day has become
a day I want to forget.
The day after his surgery.
The day we heard cancer
applied to our life.

Hard and solid poem, so specific and real. I wish you hadn't had to go through this day, and am really glad you wrote about it.

A safety net, Judy, 11-11-11 at 11:11 can never happen again.

I'd say it would be a day to remember, a day to be thankful for, a day to realize that there is life ahead and that one should live each day with appreciation.

I hope the next date that sticks in your mind will tell you the bad stuff is past, Judy.

But you got through it Judy and thank goodness it's gone, gone, gone. You have done a great job of catching up with all the writing!
