Lexi is Six

Lexi turned six this
month. I’m happy,
celebrate her life

and all she’s given
but I want twenty more
at least, don’t want to think

she’s middle aged in dog
years, that her best years
are behind her after only six.

I remember when you got precious Lexi. She has brought you so much companionship and joy, and done the same for your friends through your art about her. I hope the two of you have many more great years together. Contemplating the future loss of one so dear is hard.

May Lexi defy the odds and live many many many more years, Judy. If love and the best care have anything to do with it, she's one lucky, long-lived dog.

I know what you are saying, Judy. When I had Violet at the vet, the vet said that next year Violet would be a senior. I said...But, But. Truth is, Judy, small dogs such as ours live much longer than large dogs. I look forward to 15 total with each! And you should too.

I like the thoughts of that, Mary. Fifteen GOOD YEARS rather than twelve and she's already lived her best. I needed that attitude adjustment!LOL

I can hardly believe Lexi is six already. Kiddo is six too and so is Peter. Kiddo is definitely looking older and that makes me sad. In fact I don't like to think about it at all!! Our Lab lived to be 16--so dogs can certainly beat the odds!
