No Breaks

Grasp at air as if
it has an invisible
grip. Feel the familiar
panic rise as the
fall begins.

The earth can bend,
mangle, bruise, cut,
scrape, or cause me
to swell like a cat
dead in the desert,
but please, don’t
break my bones.

the image of cat swollen dry in the dessert is very primal for me - and yes, please don't break my bones either.

Wonderfully, shockingly visual. Yes, "please, don't break my bones."

This sounds like a prayer, Judy, a mantra we all express in countless ways at this time in life.

Oh my, Judy! Your description is perfect. I experienced a near fall the other day and yes, we do grasp at air as if..... Stay safe, friend.
