Autumn Fever

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf's a flower.
- Albert Camus

Autumn Fever
prompt by Poets United

I have spring fever every fall,
want to climb the trees of my youth,
skip through the leaves and play
hopscotch and hide-n-seek.

Autumn is euphoria for no reason
but weather and feelings of love,
sharing, decorating in my favorite
hues, apple orchards,and family
and friends dropping by for apple pie.

I have the fever each fall. I walk
with a new lilt to step and voice,
love the crunch of leaves under foot,
the cool days, and snuggly nights.
Maple, oak, and elm leaves dance around
me in a kaleidoscope of colors. I can't
help myself. I begin the slow dance of fall.

You feel about autumn as I feel about spring. I especially like:

Autumn is euphoria for no reason

Judy I think of your painting with the birch trees in it! Maybe you could post that picture. A most delightful read... I feel the same way sometimes!

I love how you begin this poem, "I have spring fever every fall," and then the picture you paint with words that touch all my senses.

"spring fever in fall" - love that thought, why shouldn't we be as full of life in fall as in spring? Your words paint autumn beautifully.

Beautiful and autumnal. I can smell the crisp apple skins and hear the leaves crunching underfoot. Wonderful fall poem!
