Midnight Snack

Some people are magic,
slight of hand imperceptible,
gives the illusion of fair play,
I fall for that line each time.

He says the grass is purple,
I stare at the green carpet,
And when I look into his eyes,
I see he is truth.

I’m under a spell, cast by golden eyes.
The smile holds me transfixed, I only
see his artist lips, one crooked tooth,
I long to hear his voice. I’m hypnotized.

His hands mesmerize,
hold me in their grasp.
I want him to take me
in strong, muscular arms.

He’s magic, I know what the apple is
but I take a bite anyway.

Oh, Judy, this is excellent. Yes, the 'golden eyes.' Yes, the 'artist lips.' The ending, so true. So often one does just THAT!

I rate this very high among your poetry in recent weeks.

Oh my god!
I am captivated.
Spell-bound.
I am a prisoner in your poem,
an ant in syrup,
a lover in his arms.

It's glorious this.
