I’m It

I wrote this small stone while in the hospital waiting the outcome of Bill's surgery. The fear that I had and that I saw in his eyes made me realize it was my turn to be strong; I was it!
A small stone is one little stone out of a river bank, not the whole river. I sure had a river's worth in me this week!

I’ve never had to be the strong one
Not for forty years, not once
We’ve been devastated and down
Depressed and damaged together once
But I’ve never had to be the strong one
Not until now.

Wow Judy. But yes I think it does come round to each of us at some point in life.

Good thing you have an amazing core of strength, Judy, but it is still so hard.

Judy, I understand so very well. D was always the strong one.
It was so hard when I had to assume that role.

It is sometimes so unexpected the strength we can find in ourselves when it is most needed. We are a constant source of surprise to our well known selves. These surprises can make us become new people Judy. penny

I understand. Love and need help us draw on strength we didn't know we have. And there have been times I've hated having to be the strong one.
