Fragrant February

Strawberries bake on sundrenched
mounds to the east of me. Oranges
are being harvested to the west.
Newly mown grass lies splayed
in the wake of our mower blades.
I rock to a rhythm of spring time
amidst the heavenly scent of Gardenias
that bloom on both sides of our porch
while winter chill carries on to the north.

Great sensory images of southern spring. We are getting just a hint here - the first red buds, fruit trees, wisteria, but cool wind from the north. YOu inspire me to maybe try an early spring poem later. Thanks.
