Holder of the Universe

My job is to hold up the universe
That surrounds me.  The heft
Is greatest on overcast days
Or when someone hurts
Me or a loved one. The sunlight
Helps but  not as much as a kind,
Weightless word.

Time

Time Walks

Time walks
across my body, my face
and my mind leaving me more
sags and valleys, age spots,
varicose veins, forgetfulness,
and more time to think of the past.

Time leaves me more
flesh, creaks, pain in my
joints, memories of friends
and family long gone.

Time leaves me more
tolerance, acceptance, more
love for my fellow man,
appreciation for their
journeys and mine.

Moon Glow Nights

Dusky dark
moon glow
stars that shine
night air crisp
lights of a plane
an owl hoots
light illuminates homes
families gather
music soft and slow
the country gears down
for slumber and dreams
on moon glow nights like this.
