Liars All

Who doesn’t lie? Those that say they don’t,
do.  Every writer lies.  Fiction writers the best
liars of all. Creative liars.  That’s the most
desirable.

Poets lie -- embellishments are strung through
dull ornaments to provide the glitter.  We make
it difficult to discern with our turn of the word.

Even if we tell our truths-- they are ours,
not shared by others who have their own
vision of the same event.  These are the liars
that don’t know they are lying.

Does the compartment for liars need to be
reduced to only those with evil intent ?
Not the lier that says you did the right thing
when you obviously didn’t. What of, the color
of your dress compliments your eyes,
and omit the dress makes you look like
a pumpkin with a belt.
That’s a creative lie, but one of omission.

I am a liar.  I hope a creative one.  I hang
by a thread to my truth but embellish, relish
the results as my fingers type faster and I
see what I have said.  Is it a worthwhile lie?
Will it make you smile?  I love your crooked
smile!

(it would be sweet if you’d brush your teeth

--omitted)

Self Preservation

Concern deepens, brow furrows; wonder
And worry consume. I wonder if this,
Worry that, and what if it doesn’t work out.
My concern takes over the days, tortures by
Night in my dreams. Concern is the best
Possible emotion until it turns on you.
In all things let there be boundaries
And balance.
Let me
not live the pain
With everyone that is hurting. Let me have
Concern, help if I can, but stay once removed.

No Green:

(Not Sap, Thalo, Hookers, Lime, Celadon, Olive,
Jade, Phthalo, Viridian, Forest, Army, or Verdigris)

Green is not a color for a car of mine,

a house either, nor the walls inside.

It’s not a choice for me, not because

I don’t care for the color green, but rather

green has too much competition with the grass,

the trees, and the shrubbery. No green can

compare to the shades, hues, and the range

of green seen outside my door.

Update

Gold has turned to silver:

hair and up-to-date jewelry,
house décor like china patterns,
appliances, lamps and picture frames.

My husband even goes along with silver
as long as I call it chrome.

A Bit of Blarney

Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter
Lullabies, dreams, and love ever after.
Poems and songs with pipes and drums
A thousand welcomes when anyone comes.
That's the Irish for you!...Irish Saying

This time of year we sit at rapt attention,
the kids and I, for his description of the peoples
and places of the homeland. He sings Danny Boy

as tears waft down his cheeks, then mine. He’s
proud to be an Irish Catholic, honors his heritage
from that emerald isle, sometimes dances a jig

or quotes a limerick in a thick brogue. This wealth
is not gained first hand but passed down from his
father who got it from his. He passes it down
to his boy now, who will take it to the grave.
