Fourth of July

Flag gently waves, hotdogs grill, mustard
is spilled on white blouse.  Chatter of people,
smell of tan lotion, kids all splash in the pool.
Another memory, family and friends,
another great moment of pride.

I can catch the smell of the mustard spilled on white blouse, as well as the color contrast, very sensory grabbing. THe ending wiht pride - for country? for family? keeps me thinking. The whole piece has the lighting of memory. Well done.

I'd be sloshing mustard right along with you, except for this very reason I seldom wear white anymore LOL!

Sounds like an All-American celebration. Happy 4th!

As a South African I never really understood this holiday until recently, your poem paints the celebrations so beautifully.

Great use of all the senses to paint your 4th of July word picture, Judy!

What a wonderful stone for July 4. For some reason I like the part about the mustard!
