Don’t Talk, Think

I open my mouth and then regret
things I say to my loved ones and friends.

I take a break
breathe in, breathe out,
get a grip, then go forward

I still have one foot left
to fit in my mouth.

I'm going to guess that most of us will relate to this! Fun...don't choke.

LOL, Judy, "one foot left." You are true, you are brave, you are my hero. I know you only say what is needed when it is needed.

Fine line between foot in mouth and the kind of hard truth telling that has turned me around more than once. I know I've been on both ends of both. I like the "one foot left" line and love you for the way you laugh at yourself and still keep on expressing yourself.

This poem is a gem of good sense!

I often think to myself, "Well, at least you didn't call her[insert nasty nickname I made up long ago] to her face." I know full well that merely thinking this will inevitably cause me to call her that nickname the very next time I see her.

I guess there's only one boat, & we're all in it, eh? Welcome aboard.

Thank you so much for commenting on my blog. It has been a pleasure to visit yours and admire the clever wit in your wordplay.

This poem particularly caught my eye as a notion that rings true for so many!

I wrote on a very similar idea last week. I hope you won't mind me posting a link here in case you are interested to visit it:
